SAIOP (Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program) provides structured substance use treatment for individuals who need ongoing clinical support but do not require the intensity of SACOT.
The program offers many of the same treatment components as SACOT, including psychoeducation, CBT-based interventions, coping skills, relapse prevention, group processing, and recovery planning, but with fewer treatment hours each week. SAIOP is especially helpful for individuals who are stable enough to manage work, school, family responsibilities, or other daytime commitments while continuing to receive structured treatment.
Sessions are held in person at our Jamestown office from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, for a total of 12 treatment hours per week, with no more than 12 participants per group. SAIOP may be used as an initial level of care when clinically appropriate or as a step-down from SACOT as an individual progresses in recovery.
SAIOP may be appropriate for adults with a substance use disorder who need structured and consistent treatment but are stable enough to remain in the community and manage responsibilities such as work, school, parenting, or other daily activities.
SAIOP may be a good fit for individuals who:
SAIOP is not automatically the right program simply because evening hours are more convenient. Placement is based on an assessment of the individual’s substance use, mental health needs, relapse risk, daily functioning, recovery environment, strengths, and available supports. If an individual requires a higher level of structure and clinical support, SACOT may be more appropriate. If the individual’s needs can be safely addressed with less intensive services, another level of outpatient care may be recommended.
